Friday closing up to midnight I recieved a sms from Florian that he was waiting for me at the bus stop. He had just arrived from Switzerland and the airport shuttle had just arrived Grorud.
Florians visit had been planned some while ago and it was really nice to see him again. Its been a year and half since I have seen him now and we had lots of catching up to do. So.. we opened up a bottle of wine and started talking about travels, Life and our common friends. It was so lovely to catch up. One bottle soon became 2 bottles and then it became really late and time to go to bed. Florian got the couch in the living room. (I have tried really hard to get the guestroom done, but it will still take me some time. However – I hope that for my next guest, guestroom will be ready. Oups – lots of work to put into that room then. I better get on with it!)
Saturday morning we woke up around 10:30 and had a lovely breakfast at home before we headed downtown to tourist the streets of Oslo.
We started out our day as tourists in Oslo at Oslo Central station and started out walking up Karl Johan street. We detoured into a few stores like Indiska and the new Outland store before we headed to Akershus Fortress and then to the Parliament bulding where a huge amount of people were protesting that the Norwegian government was going to send Maria Amelie home to Russia. She has lived in Norway for 8 years as a paperless immigrant and she wrote a book on how to be an Illegal Norwegian. As she wrote that book the Norwegian government found her, and discovered that she had no papers so they decided to send her back to Russia.
Florian and I continued on Karl Johan Street up to the National Theatre, then to the Royal Castle before we continued up towards Majorstua and the Vigeland park. We stopped for a beer at an irish pub – and to warm up. It was such a nice day. Sunny and cold.
In the Vigeland park we enjoyed the sunset and twilight hour with all the lights lit everywhere. The statues were all covered with frost and looked really nice.
After Vigeland we walked towards Bygdøy Allé where we had dinner at Village Tandoori restaurant. I’ve only had dinner here once before, some years ago, but as I recalled the food was LOVELY. Sooooo good ! I had spicy lamb. Yummy !
I have eaten at the Village Tandoori several times and each time is a huge pleasure! I love that place.
When we were done with dinner, we had dessert …. OOOOO what a dessert… Milk balls dipped in honey with fruit… Both Florian and I agreed that there were too few milk balls and that they definately were too small ! Hihihi
After dinner, we took the bus back to the city and the train back home where we continued solving world problems and drinking good wine until bedtime …
