The Hunger Games – The Movie

Today I went to see the Hunger Games at the movies !

I just finished reading the triology yesterday and the books were actually so good and addictive that I was not able to put any of them down until the full triology was read. I looooooooved the books so much I was annoyed to have to take toilet breaks, sleeping breaks and making food / eating. Fantastic page-turner diet!  I may have had too high expectations to the movie, but apart from a weird technique of bad zooming and focusing throughout some parts of it, I really liked it.

Jennifer Lawrence does a good job as Katniss, Josh Hutcherson is excelling as Peeta.

Plot:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts.

The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV for the entertainment of the capitol.
The last man standing is the winner and the winner will be given a house and his / her family will recieve a life time of food supply and become rich beyond imagination.

Katniss has learned to hunt with her best friend Gale and when her father died she became the responsible to provide food home to the family.

During the annual reaping Katniss’s 12 year old sister Primrose is elected as a tribute and Katniss volunteers to save Primrose and take her place. This results in the first volunteer from District 12 ever. The male tribute is Peeta Mellark, the bakers son and one of Katniss classmates and they are prepared and sent off to the 74th annual Hunger Games where we follow their story from their journey to the capitol, the preparations for the Hunger Games, the process of getting sponsors and the interviews for the viewers to get to know the tributes.
