In AD 965, Odin, king of Asgard, wages war against the Frost Giants of Jotunheim and their leader Laufey, to prevent them from conquering the nine realms, starting with Earth. The Asgardian warriors defeat the Frost Giants and seize the source of their power, the Casket of Ancient Winters.

In the present, Odin’s son Thor prepares to ascend to the throne of Asgard, but is interrupted when Frost Giants attempt to retrieve the Casket. Against Odin’s order, Thor travels to Jotunheim to confront Laufey, accompanied by his brother Loki, childhood friend Sif and the Warriors Three: Volstagg, Fandral and Hogun. A battle ensues until Odin intervenes to save the Asgardians, destroying the fragile truce between the two races. For Thor’s arrogance, Odin strips his son of his godly power and exiles him to Earth as a mortal, accompanied by his hammer Mjolnir, now protected by an enchantment to allow only the worthy to wield it.

Thor lands in New Mexico, where astrophysicist Jane Foster, her assistant Darcy Lewis and mentor Dr. Erik Selvig, find him. The local populace finds Mjolnir, which S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Phil Coulson soon commandeers before forcibly acquiring Jane’s data about the wormhole that delivered Thor to Earth. Thor, having discovered Mjolnir’s nearby location, seeks to retrieve it from the facility that S.H.I.E.L.D. quickly constructed but he finds himself unable to lift it, and is captured. With Selvig’s help, he is freed and resigns himself to exile on Earth as he develops a romance with Jane.

Loki discovers that he is actually Laufey’s son, adopted by Odin after the war ended. A weary Odin falls into the deep “Odinsleep” to recover his strength. Loki seizes the throne in Odin’s stead and offers Laufey the chance to kill Odin and retrieve the Casket. Sif and the Warriors Three, unhappy with Loki’s rule, attempt to return Thor from exile, convincing Heimdall, gatekeeper of the Bifröst – the means of traveling between worlds – to allow them passage to Earth. Aware of their plan, Loki sends the Destroyer, a seemingly indestructible automaton, to pursue them and kill Thor. The warriors find Thor, but the Destroyer attacks and defeats them, prompting Thor to offer himself instead. Struck by the Destroyer and near death, Thor’s sacrifice proves him worthy to wield Mjolnir. The hammer returns to him, restoring his powers and enabling him to defeat the Destroyer. Kissing Jane goodbye and vowing to return, he and his fellow Asgardians leave to confront Loki.

In Asgard, Loki betrays and kills Laufey as Thor arrives, then goes to the Bifröst Bridge followed by Thor. Loki reveals his true plan to use Laufey’s attempt on Odin’s life as an excuse to destroy Jotunheim with the Bifröst Bridge, thus proving himself worthy to his adoptive father. The two fight, and Thor resorts to destroying the Bifröst Bridge to stop it, stranding himself in Asgard. Odin awakens and saves the brothers from falling into the abyss created in the wake of the bridge’s destruction, but Loki allows himself to fall. Thor makes amends with Odin, admitting he is not ready to be king; while on Earth, Jane and her team search for a way to open a portal to Asgard.

In a post-credits scene, Selvig has been taken to a S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, where Nick Fury opens a briefcase and asks him to study a mysterious object, which Fury says may hold untold power. An invisible Loki prompts Selvig to agree, and he does.

Cirque du Freak – The Vampires Assistant

Two teenagers unknowingly break a 100-year-old truce between two warring factions of vampires; vampires who do not harm their victims, and Vampaneze, who kill whomever they feed on.

Darren Shan and his best friend, Steve Leonard, go to a traveling freak show and Steve recognizes one of the performers as a vampire. Steve goes to see the vampire, Larten Crepsley, after the show and tries to convince him to turn him into a vampire. Crepsley insists that becoming a vampire means having to give up any hope of a normal life, and Gavner Purl notes that children aren’t supposed to become vampires anyway. Steve then reveals that he hates his life, and wants to be a vampire more than anything else. Crepsley reluctantly tests Steve’s blood, but quickly spits it out, saying he has bad blood. Steve furiously swears revenge on Crepsley and leaves. Darren, who is hiding in the cupboard after stealing Crepsley’s spider, Madam Octa, overhears the whole thing.

When Crepsley realizes that Madam Octa has been stolen, Darren flees from the theater with Crepsley hot on his trail. Outside there is a limo waiting for him, which he is told to get into. Inside he meets Desmond Tiny and mad Vampaneze Murlough. Murlough is unimpressed with Darren, but Mr. Tiny is certain he has great potential. They drop Darren off at his house where he sneaks back into his room.

The next day at school, Darren tries to take a look at Madam Octa, but Steve catches him and tries to get a close look at her while holding her cage. The bell rings, startling Steve and making him drop the caghim, and she escapes. As Madam Octa tries to escape the school she creates chaos and Steve chases her, trying to kill her, and Darren follows after trying to save her. At the last moment Madam Octa slips into Steve’s shirt, bites him, and makes good her escape. Madam Octa’s poisonous bite leaves Steve in the hospital, and it is likely he will not survive. Darren then goes to Crepsley to ask for the antidote and is offered a deal by him. Crepsley will keep Darren safe from Mr. Tiny and give him the antidote if Darren becomes a half vampire and Crepsley’s vampire assistant. They administer the antidote to Steve at the hospital, after which Darren, who still wishes to be rid of Crepsley, sounds the hospital alarm, forcing Crepsley to leave without him.

Even as a half-vampire, Darren finds continuing with a normal life too difficult. After nearly attacking his sister out of bloodlust, Darren agrees to leave his family and go to the Cirque Du Freak with Crepsley. He fakes his own death and a funeral is held for him. During the funeral, Steve notices the scars on Darren’s fingers and realizes he has become a vampire.

When Crepsley digs up Darren’s grave they are attacked by Murlough, who tries to kidnap Darren and make him into a vampaneze. They lose Murlough and return to the Cirque. Darren meets the snake boy, Evra Von, and Rebecca, the monkey girl. Meanwhile, Steve is contemplating suicide. Mr. Tiny stops him and offers him a chance to become a Vampaneze, like Murlough. Mr. Tiny tells Steve that he is neither a vampire nor a Vampaneze, but someone with an interest in both. Tiny learns Darren has not fed on humans yet and sends Vampaneze after him, knowing that he will be weak. Darren escapes, so they kidnap Rebecca and have Evra tell Darren to “come home”.

Meanwhile Mr. Tiny makes contact with Steve and entices him to join his Vampaneze by playing on his resentments and insecurities. Steve is turned into half-Vampaneze and then he and Murlough capture Darren’s family. Darren arrives home to find his family missing and a flier for Cirque du Freak. Darren arrives at the theater, where Murlough and Steve are waiting for him. They fight, but Darren is weak from not feeding. Crepsley arrives to fight Murlough. Rebecca frees herself, while Mr. Tiny watches from the balcony. Rebecca offers Darren some of her blood. He eventually agrees and fights with Steve using his new powers. Crepsley stabs Murlough and with his dying words Murlough declares that the truce between the two clans is broken. Steve and Darren continue to fight, but Tiny stops them and turns Murlough into a Little Person. Tiny and Steve then leave. Darren’s family are hypnotized to have forgotten what happened to them. Left by themselves, Rebecca and Darren then share a long heartfelt kiss before being interrupted by Mr. Crepsley. Crepsley gives Darren his own coffin, and Darren accepts his new life as a member of the Cirque du Freak.

The Green Lantern

Millions of years before the Earth was formed, a group of beings called the Guardians of the Universe used the green essence of willpower to create an intergalactic police force called the Green Lantern Corps. They split the universe into 3,600 sectors, with one Green Lantern per sector. One such Green Lantern, Abin Sur of Sector 2814, defeated the being Parallax and imprisoned him in the Lost Sector on the ruined planet Ryut. In the present day, Parallax escapes from his prison. Six months later, after killing four Green Lanterns and destroying three planets, Parallax attacks Sector 2814 and mortally wounds Abin Sur, who escapes and crash-lands on Earth. The dying Abin Sur commands his ring to find a worthy successor on the planet.

A cocky Ferris Aircraft test pilot Hal Jordan is chosen by the ring and transported to the crash site, where Abin Sur appoints him a Green Lantern, by telling him to take the lantern and speak the oath. At home he says the oath of the Green Lanterns while under trance from the glow of the lantern. After he is attacked by employees laid off from Ferris Aircraft while leaving a bar, Jordan throws a punch at one of his attackers, but instead of connecting with his fist, the ring creates a huge fist of green energy. Jordan is whisked away to the Green Lantern Corps home planet of Oa, where he meets and trains with Tomar-Re and Kilowog. He encounters Corps leader Sinestro, who is displeased that a human—a primitive compared to other Corps species—has become a Green Lantern. With Sinestro believing him to be unfit and fearful, Jordan quits and returns to Earth, keeping the power ring and lantern.

Meanwhile, after being summoned by his father Senator Robert Hammond to a secret government facility, scientist Hector Hammond performs an autopsy on Abin Sur’s body. A piece of Parallax inside the corpse inserts itself inside Hammond, mutating the scientist and giving him telepathic and telekinetic powers at the cost of his sanity. After discovering that he was only chosen due to his father’s influence, Hammond resentfully attempts to kill his father by telekinetically sabotaging his helicopter at a party. Jordan uses his ring to save the senator and the party guests, including his childhood sweetheart Carol Ferris, a fellow test pilot and manager of Ferris Aviation. She recognizes Jordan despite his costume and mask. Shortly afterward, Hammond successfully kills his father by burning him alive despite Jordan’s interference. Both Jordan and Hammond realize Parallax is on his way to Earth.

Back on Oa, the Guardians tell Sinestro that Parallax was once one of their own until he desired to control the yellow essence of fear, only to become the embodiment of fear itself. Believing the only means to fight fear is by fear itself, Sinestro requests that the Guardians to forge a ring of the same yellow power, preparing to concede Earth’s destruction to Parallax in order to protect Oa. However, Jordan appears and tells Sinestro not to use the yellow ring and requests the Corps’s assistance in protecting Earth from Parallax’s imminent invasion. They deny his request but allow Jordan to return to his home planet.

Upon returning to Earth, Jordan saves Ferris from being injected with Parallax’s essence by Hammond. Parallax arrives, consuming Hector’s life force, and then wreaking havoc on Coast City. Jordan is nearly killed during his battle with Parallax, but realizes why he was chosen by the ring: true bravery is not being fearless, it is the ability to overcome fear. With new-found strength, Jordan lures Parallax away from Earth and toward the Sun, using the Sun’s gravitational pull to disintegrate the entity. He loses consciousness after the battle, but is saved by Sinestro, Kilowog, and Tomar-Re. Later the entire Green Lantern Corps congratulates him for his bravery. Sinestro tells Jordan he now bears the responsibility of protecting his sector as a Green Lantern.

In a post-credits scene, Sinestro steals the yellow ring and places it on his finger, causing his green suit and eyes to change to yellow.

Bloodlines – The Golden Lily

The Golden Lily is the second novel of the Bloodlines series.

Sydney Sage is called to an Alchemist underground reabilitation center to testify regarding Keith’s attitude towards vampires. While shocked at the change in him, she nonetheless tells them her honest opinion and as a result his sentence is shortened. On her way back, her fellow Alchemist, Zeke, shows her a human prisoner who seeks to become a vampire.

Sydney would love to go to college, but instead, she’s been sent into hiding at a posh boarding school in Palm Springs, California–tasked with protecting Moroi princess Jill Dragomir from assassins who want to throw the Moroi court into civil war. Formerly in disgrace, Sydney is now praised for her loyalty and obedience, and held up as the model of an exemplary Alchemist.

But the closer she grows to Jill, Eddie, and especially Adrian, the more she finds herself questioning her age-old Alchemist beliefs, her idea of family, and the sense of what it means to truly belong. Her world becomes even more complicated when magical experiments show Sydney may hold the key to prevent becoming Strigoi—the fiercest vampires, the ones who don’t die. But it’s her fear of being just that—special, magical, powerful—that scares her more than anything. Equally daunting is her new romance with Brayden, a cute, brainy guy who seems to be her match in every way. Yet, as perfect as he seems, Sydney finds herself being drawn to someone else—someone forbidden to her.

When a shocking secret threatens to tear the vampire world apart, Sydney’s loyalties are suddenly tested more than ever before. She wonders how she’s supposed to strike a balance between the principles and dogmas she’s been taught, and what her instincts are now telling her.

Should she trust the Alchemists—or her heart?

Dark Shadows

I LOVE when Tim Burton / Johnny Depp / Helena Bonham Carter works together and makes new movies! Huge Fan!
I know that not everyone are thrilled by this latest installation from the before mentioned trio, but I dont care about everyone. I loved the movie. Lots of great laughs and lots of great acting. I know nothing of the original TV series, hence I have nothing to compare with. But both me and my friends loved the film!

In 1760, Joshua and Naomi Collins sail from Liverpool, England to North America.

Their son, Barnabas, grows up to be a wealthy playboy in Collinsport, Maine and is the master of Collinwood Manor.

He breaks the heart of a witch, Angelique Bouchard, who kills his parents, curses his family, with all his lovers leaping to their deaths from a nearby cliff and finally turns Barnabas into a vampire and buries him alive in a chained coffin in the woods.

In 1972, Barnabas is accidentally freed from his coffin by a group of construction workers. He sucks them dry of their blood and makes his way back to Collinwood Manor where he finds his once-magnificent mansion in ruin. The manor is currently occupied by Barnabas’ dysfunctional descendants. Barnabas decides to restore his family name, but when Angelique discovers that he has escaped his shallow grave, she plots revenge and tries to win him back.

He discovers that his family’s fishing company is in ruins because of Angelique’s business, and takes steps to revitalise and rebuild the company (and the mansion), gaining the trust of the family in the process. In the meantime, Dr. Hoffman offers to help turn Barnabas into a human via blood transfusions, taking several pints of his blood, but instead tries to turn herself into a vampire, only to be discovered and presumably killed by Barnabas, who dumps her body in the ocean.

He then discovers David’s father Roger snooping around the study, trying to find his riches. Barnabas gives him a choice: stay and be a father or leave; Roger chooses the latter. It is then revealed through flashbacks that Maggie/Victoria was sent to a mental hospital by her parents for talking to the ghost of Barnabas’ love, Josette, who killed herself because of Angelique’s curse. She is seen getting electroshock treatment as a child, then escaping through the window with sheets.

Barnabas soon meets with Angelique, and refuses her offer to cooperate with her to run the town, also refusing to return her love. She then binds him with silver chains and forces him into a coffin again, which she leaves in a crypt.

At the same time, she blows up the rebuilt Collins fishing complex. David soon discovers Barnabas, and Angelique learns of his premature return. She then reveals to the police that the Collins family is harbouring a murderer, turning the townspeople against the family once more, leading them to the mansion. After Barnabas offers to be arrested in place of the family, Angelique takes control and sets fire to the mansion, bringing to life the wooden statues and portraits, and making blood run down the walls from them, as well as splintering the walls of the building. Carolyn (who has been turned into a werewolf because of Anqelique), Elizabeth and the ghost of David’s mother Laura then kill her, throwing her into the chandelier. Before she dies, her porcelain skin fracturing, she literally offers her heart to Barnabas, insisting she did in fact love him, but he refuses, telling her she wanted to control him. Her spell then forces Maggie/Victoria to throw herself off of the cliff, and to save her, Barnabas jumps off after her, turning her into a vampire to save her life.

The film then ends underwater, with a school of fish swimming away from the body of Dr. Hoffman, who opens her eyes.

As usual Tim Burton and Danny Elfmann works togheter about the music.
